It's always better to over verify a red dot zero than under verify a red dot zero. If your pistol sights are at the distance you want your pistol zeroed, great, pack up and go home. Generally, a good pistol sight in distance is 25 yards, although that may be different based on personal preference and use case.

We have three 1,000yd rifle range’s, 25yd-100yd rifle, 300yd rim-fire range and a 32 bay 25yd pistol range. The 200yd-500yd rifle range is open to the public. So out to the range I went with the SDP-SB in tow. I got a rough zero at 8 yards, then pushed the target back to 15 yards for a tighter zero and a couple groups. Another couple groups at 25 yards, then some reflexive fire on a CTS steel mini e-type target. All groups were shot from a standing position, which isn’t optimal of course.

I had never really taken dedicated .22LR AR-15 rifles seriously until I was asked to help zero this rifle.
The pistol is consistently shooting extremely high at 50m, 100m, 150m, all the way out to 200m at the Hirschfelden range, both with and without the pistol scope. The rifle on the other hand shoots just fine. Anyone else experiencing this? I wanted to take a pistol along for shooting rabbit and birds, but looks like that will have to be the .45 with .410 shot instead of .22 LR.
Apr 15, 2019 · Different rifle calibers can call for different zero ranges. For most, it’s going to be 100 yards and that is the standard. You can usually double check this in your rifles manual or through your rifle manufacturer. Whatever that zero range, we want to get up to it slowly.
